MOD Alliance Webinar #5

FIFTH MOD ALLIANCE WEBINAR: MAPPING BLUE CARBON IN EUROPEAN SEAGRASS BEDS USING REMOTE SENSING, OCEANOGRAPHIC DATA, AND THE NEW EURO-CARBON DATABASE

We are excited to welcome Dr. Natalya Gallo (Norwegian Research Centre - NORCE) to present the fifth MOD Alliance webinar: Mapping Blue Carbon in European Seagrass Beds using remote sensing, oceanographic data & the new EURO-CARBON database.

The webinar will be held on 27 November 2025 – 12.00 pm CET. This edition of the webinar series is hosted by our sister project MARCO-BOLO.

Dr. Gallo's research explores how climate change impacts deep-sea ecosystems, with a focus on blue carbon, ocean deoxygenation, and sustainable ocean management. She holds a PhD from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego, where she studied the effects of low-oxygen zones on deep-sea fish communities.

She has contributed to multiple Horizon Europe projects, including OceanICU and MARCO-BOLO, and is deeply engaged in the science-policy interface, having participated in several UN climate and ocean conferences, and is also active in international initiatives such as the UN Decade of Ocean Science, the Deep Ocean Stewardship Initiative, and the Global Ocean Oxygen Network.
