League for the Protection of Nature

Liga para a Proteção da Natureza (LPN), founded in 1948, is Portugal’s oldest environmental NGO. Its mission is to protect species and habitats, conserve biodiversity and ecosystems, and promote sustainable development. LPN carries out conservation projects to combat habitat degradation, protect endangered species, manage natural resources responsibly, and foster environmental awareness and citizenship — all aimed at ensuring a better quality of life for present and future generations.

Role in DiverSea

LPN's role in DiverSea is to lead the work package focused on communication, dissemination, and exploitation of the project, as well as citizen science initiatives. Additionally, LPN is involved in stakeholder engagement activities and is collaborating with the Portuguese case study on the Atlantic coast, specifically the Marine Park of Professor Luiz Saldanha.
