Dear colleagues and PhD candidates,
We are pleased to share an update from NORDAB – The Norwegian Doctoral Academy in Business – highlighting a successful course this spring and a newly supported PhD course for autumn 2025. Please feel free to forward this message to PhD candidates, supervisors, or administrative staff who may find this relevant.
Winter School 2025 – Planning under Uncertainty in Energy Markets
This April, NHH and NTNU jointly organized the Winter School 2025 on the topic Planning under Uncertainty in Energy Markets. The course was funded by NORDAB and held at the Gudbrandsgard Hotel in Kvitfjell, bringing together a total of 52 PhD candidates, including 26 from NORDAB member institutions.
The course focused on decision-making and modeling in uncertain energy markets, covering key topics such as optimization, equilibrium models, and advanced energy systems analytics. Through a combination of lectures, case discussions, and group activities, participants engaged deeply with both theory and applied research in the field.
In addition to the academic program, the winter school offered opportunities for networking and informal exchange in a scenic and relaxed environment.
One of the participants, Stephany, kindly shared her thoughts about her experience at the winter school:
"It was a genuinely positive experience, with plenty of learning opportunities and engaging discussions with both fellow PhD students and professors doing cutting-edge research. The lectures were insightful, and the interactive format made them both informative and enjoyable. There was also time for socializing and networking, which made it easy to exchange ideas and connect with other students while engaging in social activities. Overall, I’d highly recommend the Winter School to future students."
— Stephany Nicole Paredes, Industrial PhD candidate at NTNU / Hafslund Kraft AS
