Science Communication

In this workshop, you will learn how to communicate your science to a broader audience. We will focus on storytelling and how to build up a good text.  The workshop is given as a combination of short talks, group discussions, reading and writing exercises. The aim is to develop an idea and start writing a popular science article during the workshop.

Katharina Vestre <katharina.vestre@ibv.uio.no

Analysing very large electron microscopy datasets using Python and JupyterLab

In recent years the amount of data being generated by our electron microscopes have increased massively, making analysis using standard software difficult. In this workshop the participants will learn how to analyse very large datasets using the Python library HyperSpy via Jupyter Notebooks. The examples used in the workshop will be from Transmission Electron Microscopy, but the methods will be applicable for any type of data. This is an interactive workshop where the participants will run everything on their own laptops, previous knowledge of Python or JupyterLab is not required.

Magnus Nord <magnus.nord@ntnu.no>

Workshop organized by Kongsberg Space Electronics: Showcasing Micro- and Nanotechnology Research in the Space Industry

Kongsberg Space Electronics (KSE) has three decades worth of experience in developing and delivering state-of-the-art RF communication technology to the satellite industry. In this workshop we will showcase the role of Micro- and nanotechnology in some of our ongoing R&D projects and discuss some of the challenges associated with using these technologies in an industrial context. The participants will also be challenged to discuss their own research in a similar context.
