Full day sightseeing in Unesco world heritage town Røros

We travel by bus to Røros. City walk with english speaking guide and lunch is included. After the lunch we enjoy some free time to explore on our own.

Røros is a traditional mountain village in our region Trøndelag and is one of the oldest towns of wooden buildings in Europe. More information about Røros.

Trondheim by boat and city walk

Experience Trondheim from unique perspectives on a guided boat- and walking tour! The tour starts at the local fish market Ravnkloa, where you board our traditional boats "Frøya" and "Himinglæva", which are built in the UNESCO recognized clinker style. Sailed by a team of passionate local captains and guides, they will take you on an unforgettable journey on the river Nidelva flowing through the very heart of Trondheim. You will, among many other things, see the Nidaros cathedral, the channel area and old harbor, the colorful wharves Bryggerekka and the old city bridge with its red portals of luck. After the boat tour you will be taken on a lovely city walk (lasts 1 hour) through cozy alleys, by the majestic Royal Residence Stiftsgården and across our marketplace Torget. A local guide will tell you both the old and the new tales of our town, introducing you to its history, culture and people.

Welcome reception and organ recital

Welcome reception at Two Towers Café followed by Organ Recital in Nidaros Cathedral

We meet at Two Towers Café (To Tårn) for a great mingling opportunity including light tapas and bubbles. This café is one of the places in Trondheim where you also can purchase souvenirs. After mingling a little while, we continue with a concert in Nidaros cathedral (Nidarosdomen). This cathedral started its construction in year 1070 and completed around 1300. The concert, an Organ Recital, is a gift from Trondheim Municipality to the CIB W070 conference 2023 and represent the municipality’s way of welcoming you all to Trondheim. The 40 min concert starts at 19:30.

Conference Dinner at the Conference Venue Hotel, the Scandic Lerkendal Hotel. The dinner includes a 3-course menu inclusive aperitif and 2 drinks (wine alc./non alc).

Fishing trip

Friday 12 may, 10:00–12:00

Go fishing on the fjord! The traditional wooden boats and their local captains will sail you out on the Trondheimsfjord, a route on which you will see the particular architecture of the Brattøra bay, as well as the old fortress on the Island of the Monks Munkholmen. Hot beverages (coffee/tea/hot chocolate) served on board and fishing equipment will be provided. The guide will be happy to instruct you how to use it if you are fishing for the first time – the guide speaks English and Norwegian. While fishing, one may tell each other old stories about life at sea, drink warm fisherman’s coffee or tea and appreciate the beautiful nature. Fishing has always been an important part of the Norwegian culture, which we would love to share with you. Join us on an authentic, cozy fishing trip - a great catch is waiting for you!
