Making flow based market coupling work in the Nordics
Making flow based market coupling work in the Nordics
Determining prices and flows in the Nordic electricity market has been a stable process for many years. A major recent change is so-called flow based market coupling, which intends to improve the use of the transmission grid in this market clearing process. This change in the clearing process has advantages and disadvantages, and in this workshop we discuss:
- What is flow based market coupling? Technical, economic, and practical perspectives.
- What is the experience so far in the Nordics?
- How can this mechanism be made more transparent, while ensuring that market clearing is more efficient?
Target audience include people who participate in the policy debate regarding electricity market design, as well as producers, grid owners, relevant authorities, and researchers in the area.
