Experts in Teams - Mission Zero Emission
Mission NET Zero
Experts in Teamwork (EiT)

This spring semester, approximately 300 students enrolled in the Experts in Teamwork (EiT) course are collaborating on the project Mission NET Zero. This initiative is part of a new pilot project involving a partnership between EiT and NTNU Energy Transition, focusing on energy-related villages that contribute to the Mission Net Zero initiative.
All Mission Net Zero students were invited to a kick-off seminar on 15. January. With students from many different fields of study, our aim was to make the students better understand the complexity in the energy transition and the need for different disciplines to work together to tackle challenges we meet in the transition. The complexity and need for a cross disciplinary approach to the energy transition topics is something you will experience in practice during the semester.
Invitation for the Mission NET Zero poster exhibition and contest
As a student at a Mission Net Zero team you are invited to register your project idea for a poster exhibition at the NTNU Energy Transition Conference 2. April at Scandic Lerkendal hotel. At the conference there will be around 700 participants from Norway and abroad from industry, academia and public authorities.
You and your team are invited to take part in a poster exhibition and a contest at the conference. We will select a total of 10 teams that will be invited to present their projects at the conference. Their work will be evaluated by a panel of five judges, including representatives from business companies, public authorities such as NVE and the Norwegian Ministry of Energy as well as NTNU.
The student teams that will be selected for the student exhibition will participate in a contest where the winner will be awarded by the Norwegian Minister of Energy, Terje Aasland on stage in front of all the participants. The winning team will automatically be invited to take part in an innovation idea competition run by EiT, with possibility to receive training on developing the innovation idea, get training on pitching the innovation idea and win another award.
All teams that take part in the exhibition will be awarded a diploma from the jury for being selected and a part of the Mission Net Zero exhibition.
Invitation to registration for free at the NTNU Energy Transition Conference
As a Mission Net Zero student you are welcome to attend the NTNU Energy Transition conference without showcasing your project; however, you and your team must have a permission from your village supervisor, as EiT has mandatory attendance, and the conference is on an EIT Wednesday.
At the conference, that bares the title Time to Rethink and Redesign, you will gain strategic insight into the world of global energy - markets, geopolitics, research, upcoming industry transformations, and current trends, as we continue our transition away from carbon-intensive energy systems. You will also get to meet a lot of decision makers in the energy field.

The Energy Transition
The global shift from reliance on fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas to cleaner, renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydropower is a holistic challenge. The transition is a multidisciplinary endeavour required to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, combat climate change, and create a more sustainable and low-carbon energy system. It involves changes in technology, policy, and infrastructure to support renewable energy adoption and efficiency.
Exibition at NTNU Energy Transition Conference 2025
Present your project in an exhibition at the NTNU Energy Transition Conference on April 2, 2025, for a chance to win an award for the best project, to be presented by the Minister of Energy, Terje Aasland.
Develop your innovation idea
Develop your EiT project into an innovation idea, and receive guidance and training from SFU Engage on how to effectively pitch it. You will have the opportunity to present your innovation idea at the EiT Innovation Awards (dates to be announced) and compete for an award.
