Power Markets

As part of the decarbonisation of the energy system, the provision of electricity-based energy services is expected to increase massively in all sectors. This not only requires enormous investments in additional carbon-free electricity generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure, but also the realisation of all flexibility potential in all energy sectors and across sectors. In this workshop we will address in three dedicated sessions several of these challenges ahead: Firstly, we will focus on the future investment needs for generation and transmission adequacy as well as the integration of new and PtX technologies. Next, we will address efficient and reliable market operation taking into account the physics of the electricity system, emphasizing the transmission grid. Finally, the focus is on the integration of all flexibility options of market participants in the distribution grid and the associated price signals as well as flexible grid tariffs.
