Requesting variables from HUNT with your application

Requesting variables from HUNT with your application

On HUNTs web databank you will find a complete overview of all the variables which are available from the HUNT studies (HUNT1, HUNT2, HUNT3 and Young-HUNT).

HUNT Biobank stores samples from The HUNT Surveys.

Researchers from Norwegian institutions with research expertise can apply for access to analyse these variables by having an application processed by HUNT Research Centre. More information about how to access research data you will find on the page Data access.

Fill out the application form first in HUNTs webdatabank.

When you send your application, we will reply to you within a couple of days and provide the project with a reference number. You need the reference number to request variables.

No material is delivered before an agreement and in some instances a Material Transfer Agreement is signed.

SNP's from genetic analyses in HUNT

DNA analyses were performed on almost all participants from HUNT2 and HUNT3. Some of these are available for use by other researchers. These SNP's can be found in HUNT's fast-track catalogue. From the catalogue you can add SNP's to your data order file. Costs apply, see our pricing policy.

Education

Many researchers are interested in variables measuring (highest attained level of) education. These are available from HUNT1 and HUNT2, but unfortunately not from HUNT3. If you wish to obtain data on education, these will need to be obtained from the Ministry of Education (Kunnskapsdepartementet), for which the Statistics Norway (SSB) handles the data. For more information, see our page on merging HUNT data with other Norwegian registry data.
