Energy Transition & the Arctic
Energy Transition in the Arctic and Off-grid Communities
The objective of this workshop is to address and discuss energy demands and contextual challenges for the energy transition in Arctic and off-grid contexts, address components and interactions that can be part of new energy systems, and how vulnerabilities and opportunities for energy security can be managed in a best way.
The energy transition in the Arctic and for off-grid communities leverage the requirement for and focus on energy security as harsh climate conditions and remoteness make these regions and communities extra vulnerable for energy outage. Off-grid may both be small-scale and large-scale, may represent energy need and surplus, and where limited grid import/export capacity can represent local or regional challenges or opportunities.
The structure of the workshop will be moderated presentations and table and plenary discussions and summaries. The main outcomes of the workshop will be structured and summarized in a memo made available for the workshop participants after the workshop.
