Innovation and climate finance

Can the current climate-oriented investments facilitate the energy transition or do we need to rethink our investment philosophies to achieve societal change?

To facilitate and accelerate the energy transition, financial capital for innovative solutions is needed. In different group sessions and plenum discussions, we want to investigate the current state of climate investments from a corporate and from a new venture perspective. Together with the participants, we plan to map out the main barriers and opportunities in the field of climate investments.

Potential discussion points with guests from the industry and academia are:

  • How can investors identify the companies that are green and climate-oriented enough?
  • How can investments that contribute to an actual transition to a sustainable society be incentivized?
  • What contributions are needed besides financial capital?
  • What is the  difference between ESG and impact investments?
