Key databases

Access to the resources usually requires that you are on NTNU's network or connected via VPN.

ATEKST Media archive from Retriever. The archive contains the original editions of Norwegian national, regional and local newspapers. Contains about 1300 Norwegian newspapers and other periodicals, about 370 municipal websites, and radio and TV resources online.

Audit Analytics Audit data, access via WRDS.
The University Library subscribes to these three modules:

Accounting + Oversight module: The module provides detailed information on audit-related risks for U.S.-listed companies. This includes critical audit cases, significant accounting estimates, and cybersecurity information.

Audit + Compliance: The module contains ten databases and contains current and historical audit and compliance related information on all companies registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This includes the name of auditor, changes of auditor, audit fee, auditor reports on accounts, changes in company management, among other things for public companies since the year 2000.

Europe: Europe-specific information, such as Europe-specific audit fees, key audit matters, and audit opinions.

 

Business Source Complete Research articles from peer reviewed journals, articles from trade journals and business magazines, case studies, industry reports, market research reports, country reports, company profiles, SWOT analyses, author profiles over the most-cited authors in the database, and more.

Brønnøysundsregistrene This archive contains the Norwegian register of company accounts (Regnskapsregisteret). The register contains the annual accounts of all entities that are legally required to file annual accounts in Norway.

Compustat - Capital IQ Market and financial information on active and inactive companies from all over the world, including historical data. Access via WRDS.

Capital IQ Transcripts contains data from company earnings presentations globally, delivered in a machine-readable format for Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications with metadata tagging. The dataset includes dates, times, dial-in and playback numbers, and investor relations contact information. It can be easily combined with traditional datasets for analysis. Access via WRDS.

People Intelligence: Capital IQ Professional This dataset includes individual profiles with current and past board and company roles, research affiliations, biographies, job functions, job titles, education, compensation, option holdings, contact information, and full committee memberships. It covers more than 30 million professionals, with compensation history for publicly traded companies dating back to 1992. The dataset provides insights into an individual's career history and professional relationships, by integrating current and historical information into profiles of executives of listed and private companies, board members, and investment professionals globally.

Trucost and S&P Global ESG Scores ESG scores, risk forecasts and detailed measurements of energy and water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, etc.

CCM (Compustat/CRSP merged database) Database that makes it possible to search simultaneously in stock exchange information from CRSP and fundamental company data from Compustat. Access via WRDS.

CRSP 1925 US Stock Database: Historical price information and corporate actions from the NYSE, NASDAQ, Amex and Arca, dating back to 1925. Available via WRDS.

dib is a comprehensive tool for finance and company law. Here you will find templates and checklists. You get free access if you register with your email. You can also access Kontohjelp with the same username and password.

EconLit The American Economic Association's electronic bibliography. Indexes financial literature from around the world. This includes, among other things. articles, books, book reviews and dissertations.

Eikon Datastream was replaced by LSEG LSEG Workspace from January 2025

Emerald Full-text articles from approximately 200 journals in management and administration.

Enin Company information for Norwegian (also some Nordic) companies. Total overview of companies, accounting figures, risk assessment and more. Available via web solution or API. For access, contact the library at licensing@ub.ntnu.no

Europa World Resource that provides in-depth political, economic, historical, and social information on more than 250 countries and areas of the world.

FACTIVA gives you access to newspapers, magazines and news from thousands of newspapers such as the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Le Monde and El Pais. You'll also find company information and financial instruments: Stocks, Currency, Funds, and Stock Indices.

IEA statistics Statistics from the International Energy Agency. Part of OECD iLibrary.

IMF eLibrary Over 20,000 publications from the IMF (International Monetary Fund), free access.

JSTOR Scientific journals in full text. Covers the humanities and economics.

Kontohjelp (only in Norwegian) Provides answers to questions regarding bookkeeping, VAT, rates. Has supplementary guides. Free access if you register with your email. You also get access to dib with the same username and password.

Lovdata Pro Norway's laws and regulations (also repealed), court decisions dating back to the 1800s, administrative decisions, statements and decisions, preparatory works and legal articles in full text. International agreements and treaties, including EEA/EU sources of law. Laws and agreements for different organizations. Students can access the library version of Lovdata Pro at the following url address http://lovdata.no/pro/ip, from the school's IP range (or VPN). Employees register as personal users by accessing www.lovdata.no, selecting "Log in" and following the instructions.

LSEG Workspace (previous Eikon datastream) is a platform where you can find financial information and data from all over the world. You will find share data, socio-economic data, data related to acquisitions and mergers, ownership, analyses and accounting data. Datastream is integrated into LSEG Workspace via an add-in in Excel.Read more about this in this post on Innsida.

Microdata is a service developed in collaboration between Sikt (formerly NSD) and Statistics Norway (SSB). The service is operated and further developed in collaboration between Sikt and Statistics Norway, and gives researchers at NTNU access to use register data from Statistics Norway.

OECD iLibrary OECD publications in full text. Books, reports, journals and statistical databases on these topics: agriculture and food, development, economy, education, energy, environment, finance and investment, governance, industry and services, nuclear power, science and technology, social issues, migration and health, taxation, trade, transport, urban, regional and rural development. IEA Statistics is included.

Orbis has been terminated as of January 2026

Proff Forvalt has been terminated since 01.01.2023. Use Enin for Norwegian company data. (See more information above.) www.proff.no is available to everyone.

Rettsdata A collection of legal resources: laws, regulations, preparatory documents, court decisions and standards (in Norwegian). You get access via Feide.

Scandinavian University Press Norwegian journals from Universitetsforlaget in the fields of law, education, health and social sciences, social sciences, humanities and economics in full text.

Science Direct Full-text database in the natural sciences, medicine, economics and technology.

Scopus Scientific reference and citation database with academic emphasis on natural sciences, medicine and social sciences. Primary sources are journals, conferences, patents and books.

SNL Real Estate Property Dataset The supplier informs: “The SNL Real Estate Property dataset provides a comprehensive view on news, disclosures, sustainability metrics and analysis on properties for current companies around the world.

This dataset includes:

  • Underlying portfolio assets of over 900 public real estate companies in North America, Europe, Asia and emerging markets
  • Development pipelines and transactions across more than 200,000+ properties in 101 countries, all categorized into one of several property types including multi-family, office, regional mall, shopping center, industrial, health care and hotel”

Springer Nature Link Scientific journals in full text. The database covers many subject areas, also business and management.

Titlon Economic data from the Oslo Stock Exchange for all universities and university colleges in Norway. Content is detailed daily economic data with fully adjusted prices. In addition to stocks and funds, there is data on indices, bonds and derivatives. The database contains data back to 1980 and is operated by UiT (The Arctic University of Norway).

Web of Science One of the best known international citation databases for academic research and indexes the leading journals in science, social science and humanities.

World Bank e-Library Provides full-text access to publications published by the World Bank: Books, reports, journals, etc.

WRDS Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) is a web-based portal where you can download quantitative research data from various financial and economic sources. WRDS was developed at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1993, as a tool to support one's own research activity, and since then the service has developed into a very important and recognized tool for 30,000 users worldwide. At NTNU, the databases Compustat, CRSP and Compustat/CRSP merged database (CCM) are available via WRDS. In addition, a number of other sources are included.
To access WRDS:

Select Register and fill out the form. A request is sent to NTNU's contact person, confirming that you belong to NTNU and can be approved as a WRDS user.
