Tore O. Sandvik

Tore O. Sandvik is Norway’s Minister of Defence.

He has extensive experience from national politics and public administration, with a long career in the Labour Party and senior roles at both regional and national level.

Sandvik previously served as County Mayor of Trøndelag and has held several key positions within the Norwegian Labour Party, including as a Member of Parliament. He has also worked closely with defence, security, and preparedness issues through parliamentary committees and executive responsibilities.

He is recognized for broad political experience, strong leadership in complex governance structures, and a long-standing engagement with regional development, security policy, and civil–military cooperation.

Sandvik holds an educational background in social sciences and has combined political leadership with strategic oversight of large public organizations and institutions.
