The Expected Outcomes of BC5

- Improve Knowledge on the environmental and social risks arising from pollution, climate change and connected factors in the coastal systems of Ghana and Tanzania.
- Consolidate South-South and South-North interdisciplinary network with holistic approach focusing combined impact of pollution and climate related stressors and coastal ecosystems in the West and East Africa.
- Increase the capacity of higher education, research on the impact of pollution and climate change in the coastal ecosystem and sustainable management of coastal resources in Ghana and Tanzania.
- Building solid bridging between researchers, decision makers and local communities to create sustainable networks between scientifically guided management of the marine coastal systems and connected social and economic systems.
- Increase students' practical and theoretical skills, better connection between research, educational program, and management of coastal resources.
- Increase the committed scientific work force per million inhabitants in the African communities to reduce the gross disparity with The Organisation for Economic Coorporation and Development (OECD) countries, who could focus on regional issues better.
- Contribution of greater understanding of ecosystem processes which furnish goods and services, including food security in the region and beyond among student, researcher, manager, decision maker and in the members of the coastal communities.
- Contribute the evaluation of new economic opportunities with respect to potential of the environment, social and economic impacts.
- Reduce the knowledge gap by bringing digital solutions to educate and increase awareness among students, managers and engaged citizen on more recent and up to date curricular content.
- Increase capacity in data collection skills, methodology and documentation that will lead to production and publication of high-quality research and collaboration with international scientific community.
- Better understand the sources and consequences of key contaminants in the coastal and near-shore areas of Ghana and Tanzania.
- Increase the production and publication of high-quality research and collaboration with international scientific community.
- Increase awareness, ocean literacy among coastal communities and in general public on the climate-related impacts and potential pollution risks to the coastal environment, its resources, and connections to the socio-economy, enhance ocean stewardship.
- Elucidation sustainable utilization concept among the members of the coastal communities primarily depend on marine resources for food and income.
