Runa Rannov Bostad

About

I hold a PhD in Education from the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning at NTNU. In my dissertation, which is a monograph, I explore newly arrived youths' experiences with the pedagogical support in a combination class as a transitional offer to upper secondary education, and teachers' encounters with the diversity in the class. The study uses perspectives from anthropology, sociology, education, and sociolinguistics to explore the complexity in the newcomers' everyday experiences and adaptations to a new school and a new society. Ethnography is used as the method in the study.

I have ten years of experience as a counselor and teacher in upper secondary school, mainly for newly arrived minority language students in introductory programs. My research interests include youth and migration, educational offerings for newly arrived students of upper secondary school age, counseling in the transition between primary and upper secondary education, diversity, and inclusion in school and community life.

My university education includes a master degree in social anthropology at UiO, as well as studies in psychology, education, and literature.
