Background and activities
I am a PhD student at RKBU, and the subject of my PhD thesis are associations between adolescen mental health, chronic pain and lifestyle.
My PhD project is based on data from the Health Survey in a CAP clinic (the CAP survey), St. Olav's Hospital: a cross-sectional study of adolescents aged 13 to 18 years who were patients at the clinic during the time period 15.2.2009-15.2.2011.
In Norway, approximately 8% of children and adolescents aged 3 to 18 years has a mental illness that requires treatment. There are several factors that are associated with a psychiatric disorder, which can affect the prognosis.
In the first paper, the prevalence and localization of self-reported chronic pain in severe mental illness is investigated.
In the second paper, we are going to examine self-reported physical activity in adolescents with psychiatric disorders compared to adolescents from the normal population (Health Survey of Nord-Trondelag, HUNT).
In the third paper, we are going to study self-reported smoking, alcohol and drug use in adolescents with psychiatric disorders compared to adolescents from the normal population (Health Survey of Nord-Trondelag, HUNT).
