Course content

Overview:

In this course, students will apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their master studies to a sustainable business development project on which they will work in groups. You will learn to apply systems thinking tools to analyze grand challenges and to create a business solution to grand challenges. As a core course in the Master of Management of Innovation and Sustainable Business Development, the course helps you strengthen the skills needed to evaluate sustainability challenges, create sustainable business development strategies, and justify these to diverse audiences.

Learning outcome

After completing the course, students will be able to

  1. Analyze grand challenges through a systems thinking approach
  2. Develop sustainable business models utilizing theories, frameworks and tools learned during the studies
  3. Reflect on your evolving understanding of sustainability and role in a team
  4. Communicate to a diverse audience of professionals

Learning methods and activities

The course will include seminars, project work, presentations and supervision. The project work is carried out in groups.

Further on evaluation

The assessment consists of a group assignment (50%) and an individual assignment (50%). The individual assignment consists of a learning diary (20%) and an essay about a book each student reads during the semester (30%). The group assignment relates to the project work in the course. Detailed information about the elements of the portfolio will be given at the start of the semester.

Furthermore, there will be mandatory assignments during the semester. Students have to pass the mandatory assignment in order to be able to participate in the exam.

There will be no resit exam in this course. All elements of the exam must be retaken on the next ordinary exam date.
