Course content
GEOG8513 builds on the masters course GEOG 3513- Fluvial Processes. Candidates who have not taken this GEOG3513 course should attend the lectures and read the course literature. The master course GEOG3513 is taught in Norwegian.
As in GEOG3513 the course studies processes operating in fluvial systems, with focus on material transport, and river dynamics and their response to natural physical changes and human interference. Through a series of thematic lectures based on results of recent research, the course attempts to provide answers to questions such as: How does a fluvial system respond to changes in precipitation patterns? What are the possible consequences of canalisation and plastering of river beds? The course is taught every other year, alternating with course GEOG 3514 -Slope Systems.
GEOG8513 is a reading course and the reading list will be decided upon individually. The paper can be handed in, in either English or Norwegian.
