About the course

Course content

Social media, Computer supported cooperative Work (CSCW); coordination; shared workspaces; support for cooperation among mobile users; design and evaluation of cooperative technologies; use of cooperation technologies in different contexts.

Learning outcome

The course aims at giving students a basic knowledge of social media and computer supported cooperative work (CSCW). This knowledge will allow students to compare and choose different solutions for supporting social interaction and cooperative work as well as to design new technologies. Students will also improve their cooperation skills in computer mediated situations and understanding of technology mediation.

Learning methods and activities

The course is a combination of lectures and project work. The students will have to complete an individual task (counting 50% of the final evaluation) and a group project (counting 50% of the final evaluation). Both individual parts must be delivered and passed to pass the course.

The portfolio consist of:

Individual assignment (50%)

Group-based project (50%)

Both components of the portfolio must be passed in order to pass the course.

In the case of voluntary re-sit, a fail (F), or valid absence, the entire portfolio must be retaken during a semester in which teaching is offered.
