About the Lab team

We work with IT equipment in laboratories, including the collection and handling of data. First and foremost, we work with the IT equipment and associated software that cannot be handled with the usual, standard set-up for PCs.

Our background is the operation of IT equipment on laboratory setups at, among others, the NV and MH faculties. We have experience from a very wide range of setting up IT equipment in labs, and for a variety of different types of laboratories. We understand the special needs that the lab situation requires, including uptime and stability during experiments, and the need to support lab PCs that use old and outdated software or repairs on old hardware to keep important lab instruments alive such as otherwise would be useless.

We have general drop-in time at Mimes Brønn on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 14:00 for an informal chat, and we can discuss the challenges you have. If it is time manageable and we have the right expertise, we will try to help you as soon as possible. Alternatively, we can also:

  • Give advice so you can move forward on your own.
  • Point to documentation etc that can help you further.
  • Refer to others at NTNU, if they can help you better than us.
  • Arrange a time to possibly help you later.

Often the conclusion is that extensive effort in time and money is needed to reach the goal of a specific challenge. Then it is not certain that we have the capacity, but we can at least join in a discussion to see what opportunities exist.

If necessary, you can arrange a meeting with us in NTNU Hjelp.
