This course gives you a truly unique learning experience through game-based learning. Here you get hands-on experience and can practice practical skills in project management.

You will be part of a team that together will solve major tasks in competition with the other teams on the course and will face real challenges in the fight to deliver the best project.

You work in or with projects and want to train your project skills in an environment that promotes reflection and learning.

In the course you will be placed together with other participants in project teams of 3-4 people who together carry out a delivery project from start to finish in a game-based simulator. The simulation, which runs over two full days, gives you the opportunity to practice practical skills in project management and teamwork in safe surroundings with professional guidance. You will try to secure success in the project through handling of the business case, stakeholder management, time scheduling, cost estimation, contract follow-up, risk management, change management and benefits realisation, while also gaining insight into how you can become better team members.

The simulator is also particularly well suited to reinforce the learning outcomes from other subjects such as PK6400, PK6100 as well as other subjects within the specialisations in project management in the master programme in organisation and management and the master programme in technology management and digital transformation (Norwegian only).

Skills

Through a game-based simulator, students will be able to experience the consequences of the choices they make during project execution and see the results of these in terms of the project’s business aspects. Another important element of this simulation is that it demonstrates the importance of stakeholder involvement in the project. The course also provides insight into key project management principles.

Practical skills training within the following areas:

  • Teamwork
  • Stakeholder management
  • Procurement and contracts
  • Scheduling and cost estimation
  • Risk management
