Ann Christin Andersen
About
I am an Associate Professor at the Regional Centre for Child and Youth Mental Health and Child Welfare (RKBU), and based at NTNU Campus Ålesund. I completed my PhD in Medicine and Health Sciences in May 2023. The research presented in my doctoral thesis was part of the project “Young and ADHD”, in which we evaluated a group-based cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) programme for adolescents with ADHD. My work examined treatment outcomes one year after completion of the programme, participant satisfaction and feasibility of the intervention, as well as executive functioning difficulties among the study participants.
I have extensive clinical experience from working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), where in recent years I have primarily worked with children and adolescents with suspected or diagnosed neurodevelopmental disorders. In recent years I led a quality improvement project targeting children and adolescents diagnosed with ADHD who were starting medication as part of their treatment. In this project, we evaluated a new workflow involving collaboration between ADHD nurses and physicians, with the aim of improving resource utilisation and the quality of follow-up care.
I am currently the project leader of STAND Norway. STAND is a treatment programme for adolescents with ADHD that focuses on difficulties related to executive functions and motivation. The programme was developed by Margaret Sibley and has demonstrated promising results in studies conducted in the United States. The STAND worksheets have now been translated into Norwegian by the project group, and we plan to conduct a study of STAND with Norwegian adolescents during 2027.
I also serve as a supervisor for several municipal Back2School teams participating in the national Back-Study. More information about the study and the Back2School intervention is available here: https://uit.no/project/backstudien

STAND er et behandlingsprogram for ungdom med ADHD som vektlegger ferdighetstrening, motivasjonsarbeid og samarbeid mellom ungdom og foreldre. STAND er utviklet av Prof.Sibley i USA, er nå oversatt til norsk og vil prøves ut i Norge.
