Master of Science in Chemistry at Clausthal University of Technology

(Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany, 2023)

Research

Which environmental pollutants can be found in the Arctic and what effects will climate change have on, e.g., re-emission or toxification processes of pollutants?

My research addresses questions like these to understand and assess the impacts of climate change. Specifically, I am analyzing Svalbard's glaciers, permafrost soils, and freshwater ponds for heavy metals, such as mercury, as well as organic pollutants, e.g. polyaromatic hydrocarbons.

Seasonal dynamics of chemistry in an Arctic glacier-fed river

This study investigates seasonal variations in the geochemical composition of Bayelva, a glacier-fed Arctic river, based on 224 water samples collected. Drastic changes in elemental concentrations were observed between the seasons and weather events.

Study on the influence of advanced treatment processes on the surfaceproperties of polylactic acid for a bio-based circular economy for plastics

This study investigates different pre-treatments to modify polylactic acid (PLA) surfaces and enhance biodegradation by promoting bacterial attachment through surface property changes.

Assessing the Time Dependence of AOPs on the Surface Properties of Polylactic Acid

This study investigates how different advanced oxidation processes affect the near-surface structure of polylactic acid, promoting enzyme or bacterial adhesion for enhanced biodegradation.

Teaching

I am convinced that excellent teaching and supervision in the field of science play crucial roles, not only for future research outcomes of new generations but also in individual development in scientific communication.
