About

I am an architectural historian and filmmaker, who adopts practice-led research methods to explore questions related to place, architecture, the body, and its history. Based on my PhD thesis in Architectural Design at the Bartlett School of Architecture, my book Following Norberg-Schulz: An Architectural History through the Essay Film (2022) looks at a series of windows in the life and work of the Norwegian architectural theorist Christian Norberg-Schulz (1926-2000) through written essays and essay films. I continue to build upon these methodological innovations in my current work where I use film, sculpture, photography and creative writing to explore how people with chronic illness experience place and architecture. I am the PI of An Architecture of Chronic Illness: A Critical Exploration of Norwegian Buildings and Bodies Post-War to Post-Pandemic, funded by the Research Council of Norway 2025-27.

Our faculty has open calls for PhDs in artistic research or history/theory annually. I am currently only considering proposals directly linked with my ongoing project.
