Anne-Lise Sagen Major is deputy rector at NTNU in Ålesund. She was hired on March 1. 2023. Sagen Major comes from a position as head of innovation support in Ålesund municipality. She has also held a position as future navigator in the municipality, a coordinator job for research and innovation.
Sagen Major is educated in pharmacy from the University of Oslo, and from the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule in Zurich, Switzerland, where she obtained a doctorate. The stay in Switzerland lasted ten years, where she also worked in pharmaceutical companies.
After her stay in Switzerland, she has been employed in the hospital pharmacies in central Norway and in Helse Møre and Romsdal. As head of R&D at Sykehusaapotekene, she was responsible for research, development and innovation in the company, and she was heavily involved in the development of a new service model and the integration of a new profession (clinical pharmacy) in hospitals. For a period of three years, she was also a postdoctoral fellow at NTNU, where she researched the correct use of medicines and the use of digital tools. Through this work, she gained experience with, among other things, service design and app development. In the period July 2017 to August 2019, she had project manager responsibility for the Norwegian “Helseplattformen”. During this period, she was responsible for preparing the largest collaboration and IT project for the health service in central Norway.
Over the past 12 years, she has also been responsible for supervising master's theses, teaching and examining assignments at NTNU and the universities of Oslo, Bergen and Tromsø.
Anne-Lise Sagen Major has a professionally strong and very versatile background from both academia and the private and public sector. She lives in Ålesund, is married and has three children.
