About Research

About

I study the evolution and reactivation of faults and fractures at crustal depth as a response to the deformation. My goal is to have a better understanding of the micro-processes that preceeds a large scale macroscopic failure manifested by seismic events. Currently I am using time-lapse Synchrotron X-ray CT coupled with compressive triaxial apparatus to study the in-situ deformation in various crustal rocks. My research has a direct implication on understanding how the porosity-permeability evolution due to fault reactivation controls fluid-flow at the crustal depth and how induced seismicity occurs.
