Coline Marie Benoite Senior
About
I have an MSc in architecture from ENSA Paris La Villette and am currently taking a PhD in smart and sustainable cities development at NTNU Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Trondheim, Norway. As part of the project “CaPs-Citizen as Pilots of Smart Cities” funded by Nordforsk, I am conducting research in the field of citizen engagement in sustainable urban transformation focusing on the next generation of smart citizens.
Together with my supervisors Prof. Alenka Temeljotov Salaj and Prof. Agnar Johansen and with support from my colleagues at NTNU I was inspired to develop ByMaker, a web-based game to raise awareness among children and youth about the importance of balancing the three sustainability pillars: Social, Economic, and Environmental in urban transformations. The ByMaker team is international and multidisciplinary with brilliant minds from the fields of psychology, architecture, design, engineering, IT, project management and health.
In Norwegian “ByMaker” translates to “City Maker”, we aspire to give children and youth the keys they need to understand today’s challenges in order to let them co-create the city of tomorrow. Our motto is: “Let the youngsters be the game changers on our journey towards smart and sustainable cities!”
ByMaker communicates the latest scientific findings in a playful way. We give children access to technologies and development models that only exist as samples or concepts behind Labs’ doors today but will potentially be part of their everyday lives as adults.
