Background and activities

 

Gianluca Tabella was born in Suzzara, Italy, in 1993. He received the B.Sc. degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (with specialization in Process Engineering) and the M.Sc. degree in Chemical and Process Engineering (with specialization in Offshore Engineering) from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2017 and 2019 respectively. He carried out his master's thesis at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MTP) of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway. In 2020 he completed the state exam to become Professional Engineer (industrial sector) in Italy. 

Since 2020, he has been working towards the Ph.D. degree in Electronics and Telecommunications at the Department of Electronic Systems (IES), NTNU, Norway within the Signal Processing Research Group. His research interests are in distributed detection and localization for safety and risk analysis with a focus on industrial and Oil&Gas applications. 

He is currently a visiting researcher at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University, USA.

He is affiliated with the Nordic Industrial IoT Hub (HI2OT) and the BRU21 project (NTNU's Research and Innovation Program in Digital and Automation Solutions for the Oil and Gas Industry).

He has been a member of Tekna (Norwegian Society of Graduate Technical and Scientific Professionals) since 2020 and a Graduate Student Member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) since 2020.
