About
Ginevra Oertel is a PhD Candidate at the Ocean Operations and Civil Engineering Department, NTNU Ålesund. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in European Studies from Maastricht University, Netherlands and a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management from four different universities participating in an Erasmus Mundus Programme: Manchester University, Manchester, UK; Lund University, Lund, Sweden; Central European University, Budapest, Hungary and the University of the Aegean, Lesvos, Greece.
Ginevra is an sustainability enthusiast and is interested in pollution topics, particularly in microplastic / plastic pollution, circular economy, waste to resource concepts, reuse of secondary raw materials, bioeconomy. Her PhD work focuses on creating prevention stretegies of marine plastic pollution from an operational management perspective within the maritime/marine sector. She looks at the shipbuilding industry's contribution to marine microplastic pollution. She analyses the microplastic generation from ship paint during production processes and ship operations, how to prevent and manage it.
