About

CV

Gunhild Marie Roald has a ph.d. within counselling science, with a focus on coaching leadership. She has through many years of teaching, research and supervision been interested in how to create good relationships between counselors and clients, leaders and employees, teachers and students – and among colleagues and team members.

As a researcher at SFU Engage her focus is on how teachers within different disciplines can contribute to students’ development of entrepreneurial competence in interaction with others, for fruitful use in various working contexts. This implies developing the capacity for cooperation, creativity, problem-solving, reflection and critical thinking.

Research

My current research revolves around how students from different disiplines can acquire entrepreneurial competence through their education. How can we educate future employees who are able to see their competence in relation to the "wicked" problems of our time and contribute to a better world? How can social workers, kindergarten teachers, doctors and engineers be trained to look for solutions to challenges they face during their worklife, and have the courage and drive to do something about them - in collaboration with others, and in relation to existant work cultures? If entrepreneurship is to be integrated into different disciplines it is important to understand potential barriers, which we have done through our focus-group research on perceptions of entrepreneurship and innovation among students, educators and phd candidates at each of the eight faculties at NTNU.

Perceptions of entrepreneurship in different educational contexts

In this research we look into perceptions of entrepreneurship across disciplines, based on eight focus-group interviews with 55 educators, PhD candidates and students from 51 of 54 departments of the university.

Entrepreneurship education in different disciplines

What can happen to the teaching in different disciplines when educators acquire competence in and knowledge about entrepreneurship?
