I am a PhD student at the Department of Biology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, interested in the effects of environmental changes on small ectotherms like insects. To analyse that, I am collecting data about the temperature preference of various insect species across latitude in West Europe and look for effects of local adaptation. At the same time I investigate individual variation and explore differences in methodology of thermal preference assays, trying to find the most stable and biologically meaningful practice. As another part of my project I want to incorporate physiological and microclimate data paired with climate projections into an optimality modelling approach to predict the optimal behaviour of insects in different locations.
