Heidrun Åm
About
I am professor at the Department for Sociology and Political Science at the Norwegian University for Science and Technology (NTNU). I am working on the intersections of political science and sociology, critical policy studies and science and technology studies, in particular on the governance of emerging technologies. My research has contributed to debates on science and society, responsiblity in research, risk regulation and democratization of technology, as well as to the sociology of scientific communities and scientific knowledge. In my work, I combine an open, explorative approach to the problems and data at hand with engagement for conceptual contributions to advance social theory.
In my previous position, I was a senior researcher at the Center for Science and Technology Studies (STS) at NTNU. From 2016-2018, I was group leader for RRI at the Center for Digital Life Norway. In 2017, I have become enrolled in NTNU's Outstanding Academic Fellows Programme. I have been a principal investigator of two larger RCN-funded research projects. I was a visiting researcher in Copenhagen, Vienna, Birmingham, and Darmstadt.
