Hilde Storrøsæter
About
Assistant professor in geography, from NTNU. I teach various subjects within Geography for students studying to be primary or secondary teachers, as well as exchange students. I mostly teach within sustainability, center-periphery challenges, the curriculum in social studies, and social studies didactics.
I am passionate about my student’s self-efficacy in teaching geography and social studies. My professional interest within didactics is to facilitate learning situations that create among other things; mastery, wonder, exploration as well as highlighting different perspectives and facilitating a community where you can both agree and disagree. Within education for sustainable development (ESD), I see it as particularly important to be aware of and work against moralizing and indoctrinating approaches in the classroom. In addition to looking at all three dimensions of sustainability; environment, social and economic.
My professional background consists of teaching in upper secondary school, both in Trondheim and Oslo, where I have taught geography, human geography, social studies, social knowledge, social economy, and English. I am particularly interested in assessment and evaluation in school and have in this connection censored many exams at the upper secondary level. I have taken further education in professional mentoring for an educational setting, at the University of Oslo, and in that connection, I have mentored teacher students and been a mentor for new teachers. In addition, I have completed a recruitment course in school management, gained a qualification in Lesson Study, Flipped Classroom and `writing in all subjects. In the fall of 2020, Norway introduced a new curriculum for our primary, secondary, and upper secondary education, for all subjects. Related to that I was part of a committee for Geography.
