Inger Sofie Dahlø Husby is a child welfare professional with over 15 years of practice experience in child protection, milieu therapy, and culture-based work with children. She holds a PhD in Social Sciences (Social Work) from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU, 2019), as well as degrees in social work (NTNU, 2000) and child welfare (Stavanger University College, 1985). She has spent the past 25 years in academia, teaching child welfare and child communication, and coordinating student placements. Her research involvement includes being a co-researcher in projects such as The New Child Welfare (2008–2012), Collaboration with and for Children and Youth in Difficult Life Situations (2013–2017), and Children as Partners in Child Welfare Work (2020–2024). She is part of the organizing team for the Children’s Rights in Practice Special Interest Group of the European Social Work Research Association (ESWRA). In addition to her research and teaching, she has held leadership roles in her department over the past five years, including program coordinator and deputy head of education. Her research interests focus on child participation and communication in child welfare services, including the use of activities to foster inclusion of vulnerable children at both individual and systemic levels. She is also interested in education and professional development within the field of child welfare.
