I am an Associate Professor of Physical Education. My teaching includes Physical Education in the Primary and Lower Secondary Teacher Education programmes (grades 1–7 and 5–10), as well as Physical Education and Sport in the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PPU). In addition, I supervise master’s students and contribute to the development and revision of courses and study programmes.
My research focuses on Physical Education as a school subject, with particular attention to curriculum content, teaching practices, professional knowledge, and the structural conditions shaping instruction. My doctoral research concentrated specifically on Physical Education in the early primary years (grades 1–4) and examined how the subject is taught and which factors influence teachers’ professional decisions.
Research
The research is directed towards Physical Education as a school subject, with particular emphasis on subject content, teaching practices, and professional knowledge. Central themes include curriculum understanding, teacher competence, and the structural conditions that influence professional choices and priorities in schools.
The doctoral project examined Physical Education in the early primary years (grades 1–4), with specific attention to how the subject is enacted in practice and which factors shape the content of teaching.
Ongoing research builds on and extends this work through studies of professional development, subject development, and the structural conditions that frame the teaching of Physical Education.
