About

I am a physician and PhD candidate at the Department of Circulation and Medical Imaging at NTNU. I earned my medical degree from NTNU in 2026 and completed the Medical Student Research Programme as part of my studies.

My PhD project, Multimodal cardiovascular assessment of left ventricular energetics in health and disease, investigates how left ventricular function and the transfer of mechanical energy to the circulation can be assessed using non-invasive, multimodal methods. The work includes cardiac power metrics and myocardial work indices and lies at the intersection of cardiology and anaesthesiology.

Research

Left ventricular function cannot be fully understood by studying the heart in isolation. It is also influenced by the load imposed by the vascular system, including peripheral vascular resistance and the elastic properties of the large arteries.

In my PhD project, I investigate how the left ventricle transfers mechanical energy to the circulation by generating blood flow and pressure, and how this process is altered in disease. The project combines non-invasive, multimodal measurements, including cardiac power metrics and myocardial work indices, to characterise ventricular–arterial interaction.
