Jakob Bonnevie Cyvin
About
I am doing a PhD in geography, with plastic as a contaminant as main topic, and as part of the MAPLE project. I mainly work with marine sediments and plastic as a contaminant in coastal soil and I use different types of microscopy to identify plastic articles. I am otherwise interested in, and concerned with, how plastic as a material is on the one hand one of the solutions in the direction of a greener world at the same time as it is a contaminant that must be combated as the emissions are today.
I also work with active learning and the use of geographic information technology in connection with the communication of climate change through the ERASMUS+ projects Educhange (EDU2001), continued as Educhange 2.0 and in the project Digigeo (GEOG2500). I teach within the subject Earth's Natural Environment (GEOG1014) and Field and laboratory methods in natural geography (GEOG2012).
Together with Chantel Nixon and Ane Skottun, I am project manager for the DIKU (now HkDir) project VR-Learn. A three-year (now four-year) interdisciplinary and broad project where we use low-cost virtual reality to increase the degree of visualization and activity in field-related subjects, from geography, social anthropology, engineering, archaeology, geology and aquaculture to occupational therapy and qualitative method. The project has led to interest and spread and now resulted in the project TeTl-TI Technology for interdisciplinary learning - from test to implementation, awarded by Fremtidens Campus. In this project, I am involved as project support and I was one of the initiators.
I am interested in activating learning methods and citizen science and am part of the research group (EMERGE - Center for Student-Active Learning and Emerging Technologies), led by the Institute for Sos. Anthropology.
As part of the PhD work, I am part of the research group Spatial and Temporal Analytics at the Institute for Geography.
