Research project (2013-2026): 'The importance of the Helping Relation in working with people with substance abuse problems. The potential in helping relationships, a qualitative study'.

Project implementation at the General Practice Research Unit, Department of Public Health and General Practice, NTNU and Department of Education and Lifelong Learning (IPL), Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences (SU).

The project is financed by ExtraStiftelsen (Helse og Rehabilitering) Stiftelsen DAM and the Liaison Committee between the Central Norway Regional Health Authority and NTNU.

Qualifications: Masters of counseling and clinical training in counseling and social pedagogical work. Master thesis (2009): 'Coping with your own pain by the help of drugs. A study of the substance abuse problem in the life story of people who have been helped by the Selbu and Tyrili treatment cooperatives’.

For many years, I have been doing research and working with people at risk, most whom are living with the effects of neglect, violence and abuse, and have experienced trauma. I have worked particularly with people with substance abuse problems in different settings.

Competencies and research areas: Parent-child relationship, substance abuse and addiction, helping and therapeutic relationship, life story and narrative perspective, humanistic medicine.

The Norwegian Research School in General Practice  - NAFALM ((2013 -15) March-April 2016; residency at The School of Public Health, University of Adelaide, South Australia (Travelogue).
