Structural/Computational Mechanics for Material Efficient Design of Structures

The goal of the project is to achieve a higher utilization of structural components to reduce the required material. Using less material directly reduces the CO2 emissions connected to the material and its production process.

Stricter requirements are posed on the fidelity of the design methods to guarantee sufficient safety of the structures. This is achieved by including non-linear analysis to adequately assess the behavior of a structure outside its linear elastic region (plasticity effects), batch-specific stress-strain curves and uncertainties in material response and load cases .
