About

Research

My research focuses on the sustainability analysis of urban systems. I'm particularly interested in trade-offs and rebound effects, and how to create climate and other environmental policies that consider these systemic impacts. My main methods of analysis include life cycle assessment and environmentally extended input-output (EE IO) analysis. I'm currently working on the following themes: circular economy, carbon sequestration and storage, and consumption behaviour and environmental footprints in the context of the built environment.

Background

11/2021-07/2022     Senior research scientist, Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE)

01/2017-10/2021     Postdoctoral researcher, Aalto University (Built environment)

04/2019-09/2019     Visiting researcher, Leiden University (Industrial ecology)

08/2013-12/2016     PhD candidate, Aalto University (Built environment) and University of Iceland (Environmental studies)

Ongoing collaboration projects

Material- and metal footprints of European consumers

CO-CARBON Carbon smart urban green infrastructure

1.5 degree lifestyles in the urban areas of Nordic countries
