Kalaiyarasi Ragunathan
About
Kalai is a Ph.D. candidate in Immunology/Molecular medicine at CEMIR and her research explores underlying molecular mechanisms of the host-materials responses. Particularly, she is focusing on how the materials design could contributing to guide the cellular fates, with a focus on monocytes and macrophage responses. Kalai is connected to the NTNU helse project “Tailored biomaterials with reduced immune responses ”with the overall aim at developing a low-inflammatory and fibrosis-free biomaterials for therapies such as cell encapsulation to patients afflicted with diabetes. She is a NTNU (2018/20) alumnus from the Master’s program; Molecular Medicine.
Research Interest:
- Monocytes/macrophages maturation pathways
- Trained Immunity
Projects:
- Tailored biomaterials with reduced immune responses (2021-2024)
- Impact of acetyltransferases in B cell development. (2019-2020)
