Kasper Hage Stjern
About
I am a postdoctoral fellow in history and am participating in the “Dumped Munitions” project through NTNU Civil Security. I have a background as a lower and upper secondary school teacher with a master’s degree in history with additional training in English and political science from NTNU, and a Ph.D. in economic history from Uppsala University.
Some of the topics that interest me most as a researcher are the regulation of natural resources, competition policy, and the environmental history of war. I am particularly interested in exploring these perspectives through a comparative Nordic lens. Previously, I have written about the regulation of Norwegian forest ownership through the Forest Concession Act of 1909, and the Norwegian and Swedish beer cartels during the first half of the 20th century. I am currently investigating the historical practices and consequences of Norwegian ammunition dumping in the postwar period, with the goal of developing new methods for locating dumping sites and understanding why ammunition was dumped at these sites.
