I am a PhD researcher in European Union foreign policy and external action studies at the Department of Historical Sciences. Through my doctoral project I investigate the EU's "geopolitical awakening" in a changing security landscape and how it impacts the EU's relations with partners in Asia, with a focus on Southeast Asia. I am currently a project assistant in REUNIR - a Horizon Europe project on the EU's foreign and enlargement policies in its Eastern Neighbourhood and the Western Balkans. Until December 2025, I was also a project assistant in the principal team of REDEMOS - a Horizon Europe project on EU democracy promotion in the Eastern Neighbourhood.
I possess a master's degree in European studies from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and a bachelor's degree in political science and history from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.
