About

CV

My work earlier in the career was focused on the clarification of the signaling pathways and protein-protein interactions of SLAMF1/CD150 Ig-like receptor receptor in cancer and normal B cells. I have done my PhD in Ukraine, and worked as a visiting postdoc in Karolinska Institute, Sweden. I took an active part in the research focused on the assessment of SLAMF1 expression and function in various lymphoid and non-lymphoid cancers. From 2013 I have joined CEMIR, group of Prof. Terje Espevik, with SLAMF1-related project. We have suggested that SLAMF1 protein could be localized intracellularly in human innate immune cells (monocytes, macrophages), with distinct signaling and functions when compared to SLAMF1 receptor on the cell surface. This hypothesis led to the fundamental study on the role of intracellular SLAMF1 protein in the regulation of Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling in human macrophages (JCB, 2018). In parallel I worked on the project on Rab11 family interacting protein 2 (FIP2). We demonstrated that FIP2 guides TLR4 adaptor protein TRAM recruitment to bacterial phagosome, and orchestrates actin remodelling and IRF3 activation, two events that are both required for phagocytosis of Gram-negative bacteria (PLoS Pathog, 2019).

Currently, together with my PhD students Kaja Elisabeth Nilsen and Ingvild Mestvedt, I am working on several projects exploring mechanisms of regulation and novel approaches to target TLR4 and TLR8 signaling pathways in human cells.
