Discipline/work area

I’ll be working on a research project focusing on the interaction between the physical design of primary schools and the quality of education. The project seeks to explore the relation between school design, school climate, the organization of school life, students’ cognitive and social-emotional learning, and the role of teachers. In addition, this project aims to contribute to research-based knowledge about how schools can utilize school facilities to support the learning, inclusion, participation, and well-being of all students.

The project is linked to the research network ROLE (Research for Learning Environments), and the European research network DRAPES (Design, Research, and Practice in Educational Spaces). In this project, I seek collaborations with other disciplines, such as architecture, design, and psychology.

  • PhD: Strengthening teachers in their role to identify and address bullying among students in elementary schools – A practice-based research project focusing on the role of teachers in bullying prevention and the effects of the PRIMA anti-bullying program in the Netherlands, University of Amsterdam
  • Education: Master in Youth, Education and Society and bachelor in Pedagogical Sciences, Utrecht University
  • Work experience: teacher and research fellow at Centre for Applied Research in Education, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences from 2014-2021. Research assistant at the department Social and Behavioral Sciences, Utrecht University 2012-2014.
