Marlon Guttormsen Mathisen is an integrated PhD student at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), where he works on the design, modeling, and control of autonomous robotic systems for real-world inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) in both land and underwater environments. He holds a Master’s degree from the MTP Department at NTNU, where his thesis focused on the real-time performance and robustness of Model Predictive Control (MPC) through the use of GPU-acceleration. Marlon has gained hands-on experience through projects such as a semi-autonomous life buoy and a belt-driven battle bot, as well as R&D work at Nicoustic. His research aims to enable robust autonomy for mobile robots operating in complex field environments. His supervisor is Prof. Eleni Kelasadi.
