I am an animal physiologist who is interested in how corals and sea anemones sense their environments, and how they can use this information to produce behavior.
Corals and anemones have extremely interesting life cycles, where sessile adults produce motile and swimming larvae, and when these larvae become mature they begin searching for a substrate where they can settle. Very little is known about the larval development and settlement of the cold-water coral Lophelia pertusa endemic to the Norwegian coast. This knowledge gap creates the basis for my PhD project here at NTNU.
