Research

I have been a part of The Clinical Neurophysiology Research Group in Trondheim at the Department of Neuromedicine and Movement Science, NTNU, from 2014. I conducted my PhD in this group from 2019 to 2023. In my PhD, I investigated central nervous function and how this is affected by changes in sleep among migraineurs. I performed these investigations by use of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroencephalography (EEG) and quantitative sensory testing (QST). The project was conducted in cooperation with the National Advisory Unit on Headache in Norway and Norwegian Centre for Headache Research - NorHEAD. I have previously worked with EEG-based data from the different phases of the migraine cycle.

Research interests

My research interests include finding the causing mechanisms of migraine and other headache disorders. Discovering these mechanisms would allow development of the first diagnostic markers of these diseases and more effective, targeted treatment. This research include an interest for developing new methods for investigations of brain function in humans.

The importance of sleep for migraine pathophysiology: The effect of insufficient sleep on cortical function in migraine

We examine which mechanisms in the central nervous system that explain the relationship between migraine and sleep. We also investigate how subgroups of migraine with different circadia onset of attacks differ from each other.
