Background and activities

Otavio Cavalett is a researcher at the Industrial Ecology Programme at NTNU.

My main research interests are linked to the industrial ecology field, especially focusing on the sustainability analysis of energy demands, land management options and its impacts on climate and other environmental areas of concern in relation to the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals. In this domain, special emphasis has been given to life cycle assessment methods to capture the interconnections between bioenergy systems, land management and the environment, aiming to a better understanding of the complexities of the land-energy-climate nexus. My research portfolio includes several national and international research projects in collaboration with academic partners, industry, and governmental bodies. I have also served as Contributing Author for the forthcoming IPCC 6th Assessment Report and the recent IPCC Special Report on Land and Climate Change.
