Subhadra Tiwari
About
Subhadra Tiwari (1983) is an Associate Professor in Electric Drives at the Department of Electric Energy at NTNU. Her research interests focus on the design, control, and system-level integration of power electronic converters and their applications in electrified energy systems.
She has industrial experience as a Technical Specialist in Power Electronics and Electric Drives. She worked at Wärtsilä Norway AS (2011–2015) with marine applications and at Rolls-Royce Electrical Norway AS (2019–2025) with aerospace applications.
Her technical expertise includes the design of LV and MV converters and gate-driver systems, DC grid protection, EMC-compliant design, and system integration, with awareness of relevant aerospace and marine standards including RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-461, and IEEE-519. She has experience with both silicon and wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies (SiC and GaN), as well as control strategies for low- and high-speed electrical machines.
Her work provides insight into key differences in requirements across marine and aerospace drive systems, particularly related to safety, redundancy, modularity, control, protection, insulation coordination, and overall system design methodologies.
